وزيرة الهجرة الاسترالية تعلن زيادة في حصة اللاجئين من الشرق الاوسط الى استراليا

في رسالة الى النادي الثقافي المندائي في استراليا من وزيرة الهجرة في استراليا السيدة اماندا فانستون ردا على رسالة سابقة للنادي حول الدور الذي يمكن ان تقوم به استراليا لانقاذ الالاف من اللاجئين المندائيين في دول الوسط قالت الوزيرة ان هناك زيادة هذا العام في نسبة الاجئين من الشرق الاوسط الى 30% من 20 % في عام 2006.

و في نفس الوقت اكدت الوزيرة ان منطلقات السياسة الاسترالية الانسانية لاتسمح بتقديم افضلية للصابئة او المسيحيين بشكل منفرد ولكن الحكومة ترى و تراقب بشكل دقيق الاوضاع الماساوية لهم في العراق. و اكدت الوزيرة على التعامل الفردي للحالات مع التاكيد على تفهم استراليا لاوضاع الاقليات و فيما يلي مقتطفات من الرسالة:

The Minster Senator Amanda Vanstone stated that:
" You have expressed concern about the current situation of Sabian Mandaeans in Iraq and have asked for assurance that applications from Sabian Mandaeans for a humanitarian visa are treated with priority. I would like to assure you that the Australian Government remains concerned about human rights issues in Iraq and is continuing to closely monitor the situation of Sabian Mandaeans and other minorities in Iraq.
and she goes on to say that " that the humanitarian program this year has allocated 30 percent to the Middle East compare to 20 percent last year and approximately 12,500 offshore visas were granted last year and expected to be 13,000 offshore visas to be granted this year...."

and she goes on to say that" Consistent with the global and non-discriminatory nature of the Humanitarian Program there are no special arrangements for Sabian Mandaean or any other specific groups under the Humanitarian Program. Applications from persons are assessed on a case-by-case basis ..."
