The Union of Mandaean Associations condemns the heinous attack on the Mandaean place of worship in the city of Amara, which resulted in the injury of two Mandaeans who were hospitalized. We pray for a speedy recovery for the victims of the attack and for the protection of Iraq and its people from these condemned acts.
We express our anger and condemnation of these acts and call on the Iraqi government to assume its responsibilities in protecting the sons of small components and peaceful ethnic minorities living in Iraq. We emphasize that we are an authentic component of our people, our roots extend for thousands of years in the homeland, and we adhere to our faith and respect for the religions of other components based on the teachings of our tolerant faith, which calls for brotherhood, tolerance, love of the homeland and its people.
We demand that the Iraqi government take swift and responsible action to protect the interests of our people in all their components, provide them with protection, and punish those responsible for this heinous crime. Our Union also calls for the speedy formation of a Minorities Security Council that provides them with the right place to raise and solve their current and future problems.
